SENIOR SUNRISE 2027
The Class of 2027 is officially off and running!
This morning, ECO hosted our very first Senior Sunrise, and what a way to begin the final chapter of high school!
There were smiles, laughs, good conversations, a beautiful sunrise, and maybe a few sleepy faces! But most importantly, there was excitement about what lies ahead.
Senior year is about so much more than a countdown to graduation. It is about making memories, trying new things, taking chances, supporting one another, celebrating the wins, and enjoying the moments that you will look back on for years to come.
We are incredibly proud of our Class of 2027 and so excited to see where this year takes them. Their future is bright, their possibilities are endless, and this is only the beginning!
We have a lot of fun planned for our seniors this year. Bring your friends, get involved, make memories, and make this the BEST YEAR YET!
And yes... after getting up early enough to watch the sunrise, we hope everyone managed to stay awake for class!

I want to take a moment to recognize and congratulate Haylee Carlisle, one of our 9th grade students, for an incredible accomplishment at the state level!
Haylee represented herself, her team, her family, and ECO with outstanding sportsmanship during her soccer game. Competing at the state level is a tremendous accomplishment, but what stood out even more was the way she carried herself, treated others, and represented the values we want to see in our students.

Haylee is a great student, a talented athlete, and most importantly, a great person. Her actions on the field are a wonderful reminder that success is about more than the final score. It is about how we treat others, how we respond to challenges, and the character we show along the way.

I am excited to share some great news and recognize Obed with a Positive Office Referral!
Obed was nominated by his teacher, Mr. Haack shared:
“Obed has completed every lesson completely and is always finished early or on time. He demonstrates a solid understanding of finance and does an excellent job using realistic budgeting and real-life scenarios in his work. It is a pleasure to have him in class.”
This is exactly the kind of effort and consistency we love to see at ECO!
Obed shows up ready to learn, stays focused, completes his work, and consistently puts forth his best effort. What makes this even more impressive is that he is not just completing assignments. He is showing that he understands how the skills he is learning connect to real life.
Finance and budgeting are skills that will follow Obed long after high school, and he is already showing a strong ability to apply what he is learning to realistic situations.
Obed, thank you for being dependable, working hard, and setting a great example for others. Your consistency, responsibility, and commitment to your learning are worth celebrating!

I wanted to share some GREAT news with our ECO families!
ECO is featured on the New Mexico Public Education Department’s website in their PED Stories series! The article highlights Rise and Grind Coffee Shop and how our students and staff are using creativity, student engagement, and real world opportunities to take a different approach to improving attendance.
What makes this especially exciting is that the story is really about our students. Our Eagles are stepping up, volunteering, taking on responsibility, trying new things, and showing what is possible when students are given meaningful opportunities to make a difference in their school.
Rise and Grind may be a small coffee shop, but it has a BIG purpose. It is giving students real world experience while creating another positive reason to be at school and on time. It is one example of the creative ideas we are working on at ECO to help our students grow, succeed, and prepare for life beyond high school.
I am incredibly proud of our students and thankful for the staff and families who continue to support them. Your encouragement, involvement, and support make opportunities like this possible.

Update: The shelter-in-place at Milagro Middle School, Nava Elementary, Santa Fe High School, ECO High School, and Chaparral Elementary has been lifted. Students and staff are safe, and schools are resuming normal operations. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

SFPS uses AirNow.gov as its primary source for Air Quality Index (AQI) information while also considering conditions at individual school sites, as air quality can vary across the district.
Principals may move recess, physical education classes, and other outdoor activities indoors at any time based on conditions at their school. Schools do not need to wait for a districtwide directive to make adjustments when conditions warrant.
SFPS will continue to monitor air quality and make decisions with the health and safety of students and staff as our priority.

Update on Our Water Donation Drive
Thank you so much to everyone who was ready to come together and support our first responders, workers, and families affected by the Frijoles Fire. Your kindness, generosity, and willingness to help our community means so much to us. ❤️
We have received word that additional water supplies are not needed at this time. Because of this, we will not be accepting water donations today, Thursday, August 20th.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who shared our message, planned to donate, and helped spread the word. It is a beautiful reminder of how caring and generous our community is when our neighbors need us.

Air Quality Update: Though smoke conditions have begun to improve on the west side of Santa Fe, air quality in most areas of the city remains in the orange, red, or purple range.
All students will remain indoors for afternoon recess today. In addition, outdoor athletic practices will not be permitted. SFPS will continue to monitor air quality conditions and make adjustments as needed. Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff.

Holmes Elite Driving Academy is offering FOUR discounted driver’s education courses for SFPS students, hosted at SFPS sites.
Program Dates:
June 29, 2026 – July 30, 2026*, M-F
(*No Classes Held: July 6, 2026 – July 10, 2026)
8:30-11:30am @ Capital High School (CHS)
8:30-11:30am @ Early College Opportunities (ECO)
12:30-3:30pm @ Capital High School (CHS)

Program Cost: SFPS Discounted rate of $275 + tax
