We wanted to take a moment to emphasize the continued importance of submitting free and reduced lunch applications for your children. These applications play a vital role, especially now that SB4 (Healthy Universal School Meals) is tied to funding and programming.
The Public Education Department relies on accurate counts of qualifying students to ensure that the necessary funds and services are available to schools across New Mexico. By submitting your free and reduced lunch applications, you contribute to this crucial process and help support our schools and students.
The benefits of these applications go beyond just providing nutritious meals to our children. They enable the Public Education Department to allocate funds for various educational programs and initiatives that directly impact our students' learning experiences. These resources can make a significant difference in their education and overall well-being.
Together, we can ensure that every student in Santa Fe has access to the resources they need to thrive.

Rio Ryan, an 11th grader from Early College Opportunities, has been chosen as a winner in the Congressional Art Competition! Rio's incredible talent caught the attention of Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez's office, who selected Rio to represent New Mexico's 3rd Congressional District.
Rio's artwork, titled "Rescue," is a captivating mixed-media laser cut piece. It beautifully portrays a resilient New Mexican confronting the aftermath of the 2022 wildfires while witnessing the brave efforts of the rescuers battling the flames. The image below is during the process of making, not the completed project.
Rio's artwork will be showcased in the prestigious Cannon Tunnel at the Capitol building in Washington, DC, for the next year! He has been invited to attend a special reception in DC to honor him and other winners from different districts.
Congratulations Rio!

Multiple school districts throughout the state have received social media threats against schools. SFPS and SFPD are taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety at our schools. The City of Santa Fe and SFPD are working directly with the FBI on the threat, which appears to be a hoax. There is no immediate threat towards any SFPS school.
